Dialysis

Hemodialysis

A life-saving treatment method

Dialysis is a vital treatment for kidney failure in which waste products and excess water are removed from the blood. There are two main types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In hemodialysis, the blood is purified outside the body by a machine that acts as an artificial kidney. Peritoneal dialysis uses the peritoneum as a natural filter membrane and can be carried out at home.

In view of increasing patient numbers, the demand for reliable dialysis technology is high. Modern dialysis machines use innovative components such as advanced filter membranes and precise control systems to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Vital treatments for people with kidney failure

Hemodialysis therapy places high demands on the safety and quality of the devices used. The strict Medical Devices Act (MPG) stipulates that manufacturers, operators and users are equally responsible for ensuring maximum patient safety. This high level of quality and safety applies not only to the dialysis machines as a whole, but also to their individual components, such as valves and fluid control systems. In order to meet the demanding requirements, these components must not only be of high quality and technically mature, but above all powerful and reliable.

As a specialized supplier, we are proud to meet precisely these requirements. Our valves and fluid control systems not only comply with legal requirements, but are also characterized by outstanding performance and reliability. We are your reliable partner for successfully mastering the requirements of dialysis technology.

The demand for dialysis technology will continue to increase due to demographic developments, and new therapies and technical challenges will arise as a result. Manufacturers of dialysis machines can outsource these diverse requirements to valves and fluid control systems and access external suppliers to help them keep up to date with the latest technical and regulatory requirements.

Rely on our expertise and experience to optimize the safety and performance of your dialysis machines. Together, we are shaping the future of dialysis technology and ensuring better care for patients - today and in the years to come.

Exclusive development for Fresenius Medical Care

Dual sourcing with RAPA Healthcare

In exclusive collaboration with Fresenius Medical Care - the undisputed market leader in dialysis - we have developed an innovative special valve for dialysis machines.

90,000 dialysis machines were installed worldwide in 2020 - and the trend is rising. Solenoid valves are key components for these machines. To meet this demand, Fresenius Medical Care relies on the valve specialist RAPA Healthcare. In exclusive cooperation with Fresenius Medical Care, RAPA Healthcare has developed an innovative special valve for dialysis machines.

Partnership for greater security

Demand is rising rapidly: kidney disease and therefore the need for dialysis therapy is increasing worldwide. This is also reflected in the rising production figures for dialysis machines at Fresenius Medical Care. While around 100,000 machines were built between 1979 and 1999, the 500,000th machine rolled off the production line at the Schweinfurt site in 2012. And of the estimated 90,000 machines installed worldwide in 2020, around 48% came from Fresenius Medical Care. This means that more and more valves are being installed. Like the devices, these need to be optimized regularly. The production processes also have to be constantly adapted to the increasing demand and the high requirements for medical products. Due to the high cost pressure in the healthcare sector, RAPA Healthcare is faced with the demand from Fresenius for increasing flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
